Article 1: Booking confirmation
All bookings for our services must be made by post, fax or electronic mail.
Bookings will not be definite until this document has been received, dated and signed.
For bookings for over 50 guests, a deposit amounting to 30% of our provisional quotation, tax included, must be forwarded within 8 days of dispatch of our proposal. Once this period has elapsed, we will take back the room without further notification.
All deposits paid will give rise to an invoice on our part. Should the deposit not be paid in full, that is to say 30% of the provisional quotation, tax included, the Château de Rajat reserves the right to cancel the service.
For public services, local or regional authorities that are not authorised by their supervisory bodies to pay deposits, the booking will be definite on receipt of this document, dated and signed.
Article 2: Confirmation of the number of participants
We must receive precise confirmation of the number of participants at least four days prior to the date of the event, by post, fax or electronic mail. This number may not be over 10% less than the number indicated on the provisional quotation. This number will then be used to establish the final invoice, even if the number of guests is lower than this figure. If there is a higher number of guests, the extra guests will of course be invoiced. There may not be 10% more than the number specified in the quotation.
The prices in our provisional quotations will be ultimately maintained, except for the effect of modifications to our labour or supply and tax tariffs in force. These modifications must be notified and approved at least 8 days before the date of the reception.
Article 3: Cancellation
Any cancellation of an accepted booking must be made by post, fax or electronic mail.
In the event of a cancellation, for whatever type of customer, including public services, local and regional authorities, the following will be applied:
- within eight days of the event: 90% of the provisional quotation, tax included, will be billed
- between 9 and 30 days prior to the event: 60% of the provisional quotation, tax included, will be billed
- between 30 and 60 days prior to the event: 50% of the provisional quotation, tax included, will be billed
In all cases of cancellations, the deposit paid (30% of the provisional quotation, tax included) will be retained as compensation and, if the reservation was made without the payment of a deposit, 30% of the amount of the provisional quotation will be invoiced to the customer.
In the event of a “No Show”, we reserve the right to invoice the customer 100% of the amount of the services booked, indicated on the provisional quotation, tax included, as compensation.
Article 4: Force majeure
The Château de Rajat may be released from its obligations or suspend execution if it is unable to assume them due to the occurrence of an exceptional event or in a case of force majeure, notably in the event of the total or partial destruction of the establishment, strike, act of terrorism, electricity failure, etc..
Article 5: Payment conditions
Our customers must indicate their means of payment (cheque or bank transfer) when the booking is made.
The deposit must be paid as indicated in the paragraph entitled “Bookings”. Payment by cheque of the balance of the final invoice (including the number of participants served - see the paragraph entitled "Confirmation of the number of participants), the exact drinks consumed, overtime and, if applicable, any items lost or damage to equipment / premises, must be made within eight days of dispatch of the invoice. Once this period has elapsed the French Treasury Department will handle recovery of the debt.
Payments by cheque must be made out and addressed to: Château de Rajat - 69780 Saint-Pierre-de-Chandieu.
Payment by bank transfer must be received within 45 days of the date of receipt of the invoice. Once this period has elapsed, the French Treasury Department will handle recovery of the debt.

To avoid any invoicing difficulties, we would ask our customers to kindly let us have the details for invoicing and the exact address in writing when the booking is made.
Should our customers ask guests to contribute to the reception expenses, our prices must be reinvoiced in an identical manner. We only accept a global payment in settlement of our invoices from the organiser who is considered our sole customer.
Since our establishment pays VAT on debits, we would appreciate prompt payment from our customers.
Article 6: Arrival times beyond which meals will no longer be served:
Weddings: 7pm at the latest if there is a cocktail beforehand, 8.30pm if there is no cocktail.
Lunch: 1.30pm at the latest
Dinner: 8.30pm at the latest
Article 7: Overtime (every hour started is due)
Weddings: rental included up to 3am - €170 per hour overtime.
Lunch: €100 per hour after 6pm.
Dinner: rental included until midnight - €450 up to 3am
Article 8: Corkage fee
Should you wish to supply the champagne at the end of a meal, the establishment reserves the right to charge a corkage fee.
Article 9: Car parking
Vehicles are parked on two closed car parks located outside the Château enclosure, one with a digicode, the other locked with a key. However, we cannot be held liable for the theft of vehicles or objects inside vehicles.
Article 10: Copyright
The customer must make a declaration to the SACEM (French performing rights society) for any events with a band or show.
Article 11: Fireworks
Any potential firework displays in the Château grounds require the prior approval of the Chairman of the Rajat local authority joint board.
When a display includes K4 Class fireworks or a total of more than 35 kg of explosive material, a declaration must be made to the Département Préfecture authority 15 days before the date of the display. This declaration must describe the conditions of execution, notably the place, date and time of the display, the name of the person responsible for execution of the display, the measures taken to limit risks for the public and neighbourhood, with an obligation to draw up an implementation diagram, the approval numbers with safety distances, a copy of the K4 qualification certificate and an insurance certificate from the firework display manager or firm employing him.
For a firework display containing only K1, K2 or K3 Class products, with a quantity of active substances of less than 35 kg:
The fire brigade must be advised of the date and place of the display.
An authorisation must be requested from the Town Hall
For a firework display with at least one K4 Class product or over 35 kg of active substances:
A declaration must be made at least 15 days beforehand to the Département Préfecture authority.
The fire brigade must be advised of the date and place of the display.
Article 12: Insurance
We will not be held liable for equipment, objects or products left behind on our premises. It is up to our customers to take all the necessary precautions in terms of insurance, notably against theft, fire, water damage, etc.
The risk of breakage, deterioration or disappearance of our equipment cannot be covered by insurance and is therefore the responsibility of our customers. The same applies to any objects whatsoever checked in or entrusted to the Château You may be requested to produce an extension to your Civil Liability insurance the week before your reception.
Article 13: Complaints
A claim or complaint can only be taken into consideration if indicated in writing, by fax or by e-mail within a maximum of eight days after the end of the event.
Article 14: Disputes
Depending on the type of dispute, jurisdiction is either assigned to the Lyon Administrative Court or Judicial Court;
Confirmation of a booking unreservedly implies that the customer will adhere to these general terms and conditions.
